If you’ve lived in upstate New York long enough, you know there’s a very specific time of year we’re in right now. Not quite winter. Not quite spring. Definitely… mud. One day it’s 65 and sunny, and you’re thinking about patio brunch and outdoor dining. The next day? Snow. Or rain. Or both, somehow. Welcome to mud season.

And while it might not look like patio weather just yet, trust us, we’re already counting down and our patios are OPEN.
As a locally owned, woman-owned restaurant here in Otsego County, Wednesdays (when we’re closed) are anything but a day off. They’re our reset day, the time we deep clean, prep, and keep building the kind of fresh, seasonal menu we’re known for.
It’s when we’re testing new brunch ideas, refining lunch favorites, and dreaming up happy hour specials with seasonal flavors and fresh ingredients sourced as locally as possible. It’s also when our team gets a well-earned breather, because great food and genuine hospitality start with people who actually have time to recharge.
Lately, those Wednesdays have also been about getting ready for what’s next.
We’re checking tables, planning layouts, and getting our outdoor dining space ready because the weather is already giving us the green light, and patio season is ON. Around here, that first real patio day hits different.
Sun on your face. A fresh plate in front of you. A drink in hand. And nowhere else you’d rather be than Social Eats Café, in Oneonta NY.
We may not be your average restaurant, but that’s kind of the point. We’re here to bring something a little different to the local brunch, breakfast, and lunch scene in Otsego County, something rooted in community, seasonality, and really good food and vibes.
So yes, we’re closed today, getting a reset, and getting ready for the patio season. We’ll save a seat for you!
