Pancakes in February: Celebrating with the French

At Social Eats Cafe, we’re big believers in letting food tell a story. Being locally owned and seasonally inspired by global travel, we love finding meaningful (and delicious) ways to bring the world to our tables. This February, our inspiration comes straight from France – and it involves crêpes. A lot of them.

In France, February 2nd marks La Chandeleur, also known as Candlemas. Traditionally, it’s a celebration of light returning after winter, hope for a good harvest, and togetherness, all symbolized by warm, golden crêpes. Over time, the holiday became something beautifully simple: a reason to gather and enjoy food that feels comforting, celebratory, and shared.

That idea resonated deeply with us.

Winter can feel long. Days are shorter, routines get heavy, and sometimes you just need a small joy to break it up. Enter: pancakes and crêpes all month long. Not just as a menu feature, but as a way to slow down, connect, and enjoy something made with care.

Our February crêpe menu reflects what Social Eats does best, blending global inspiration with local heart. From sweet favorites to savory combinations (all served with a fresh side salad), each crêpe is designed to feel both familiar and a little transportive, like a postcard from somewhere you love or want to go next.

Celebrating with the French isn’t about copying a tradition,  it’s about honoring the spirit behind it. Warm food. Simple ingredients. Community around the table. Those values travel well, and they fit right in here.

So this February, we invite you to celebrate with us. Bring a friend. Try something new. Linger a little longer. Let pancakes be the reason.

À bientôt, see you soon at Social Eats Cafe
